If you read comics or manga on your phone, you have probably run into the same problem: too many apps, too many paywalls, and reading experiences that feel clunky. ComicX is an Android app that tries to keep things simple — a comic and manga reader with a large built-in collection, smart search, and a reader you can tune to your liking. This guide walks you through what it is, what it does well, and how to get it on your phone.
What is ComicX?
ComicX is a free (ad-supported) comic and manga reader app for Android, developed by Mr. Candyd and available on the Google Play Store since November 2023. The app collects a wide range of titles across genres — action, adventure, superhero, and manga — and wraps them in a reader with multiple reading modes, bookmarks, and offline support.
The basics at a glance:
- Package name: com.en.comicx.app (version 3.3.6)
- Size: about 81 MB — light enough for most phones
- Requires: Android 7.0 or newer
- Downloads: 20,000+ on Google Play
- Rating: around 3.0 out of 5 from roughly 80 ratings
- Price: free, supported by ads
- Content rating: Everyone
A 3.0 rating is honest middle ground — not a red flag on its own, but worth understanding. If you want the full picture on legitimacy and what the rating means, read our breakdown on whether ComicX is safe and legit.
Who is ComicX for?
ComicX fits a specific kind of reader. It is for you if you want one app that covers both Western-style comics and manga without juggling subscriptions, if you read on the go and need offline reading for commutes and flights, or if you like adjusting your reading view — page-by-page, double-page spreads, or auto-scroll. If you are coming from apps like Mihon or other Tachiyomi forks, our ComicX vs alternatives comparison will help you decide whether switching makes sense.
Key features
Three things define the experience: the library, the reader, and the convenience features around them.
The library. ComicX ships with a large collection spanning action, adventure, superhero comics, and manga. A smart search helps you find titles fast instead of scrolling endlessly, and personalized recommendations surface new series based on what you already read.
The reader. This is where the app earns its keep. You can switch between single-page, double-page, and auto-scroll reading modes, keep bookmarks and a reading history so you never lose your place, and tweak reader settings to match your screen and habits. The full features walkthrough goes through every mode in detail.
Offline reading. Download chapters ahead of time and read them without a connection — the single most useful feature for commuters. The step-by-step offline guide shows exactly how to set it up.
Getting started
The only official source for ComicX is the Google Play Store listing (package com.en.comicx.app). Installation takes a couple of minutes on any device running Android 7.0+. Head to our download page for the verified link and install instructions.

Does offline mode still work if I switch phones? Do my downloaded chapters transfer over, or do I have to download everything again?
I have been using Mihon for about a year now. Is it actually worth switching to ComicX just for the built-in library, or should I stay put?
How bad are the ads in the free version? Are they constant popups or just occasional banners between chapters?
